Ing. Wesley D. Wheeler, M.S.E., C. Eng.
|
 |
Wesley D. Wheeler was born in 1933 into a shipbuilding family
and spent his youth in the yards listening to the tic-tic-tic of
the caulking hammer in the glow of the welding rod. He is proud
of the family tradition of having produced about 3,000 vessels in
50 years, including distinguished service to the United States during
two world wars. Wheeler Shipyards, Inc., Wheeler Shipbuilding Corporation
and Wheeler Yacht Co., Inc. were among the family holdings.
His apprenticeship was spent on his knees in the mold loft, knee-deep
in shavings in the shop, behind an apron in the machine shop and
under his cap on sea trials.
His is a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, with a B.S.
in Mechanical Engineering, and the University of Michigan with an
M.S.E. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.
|
|
His experience has covered the globe including many years in some
of the largest firms of marine consultants, as technical director
of a steamship company and technical consultant to shipyards. Port
engineering, loading / discharging, crewing, operations, negotiations,
consultation, supervision and design have all been daily fare.
Following over 45 years of continuous marine experience, Wes Wheeler
employs the present organization to provide in-depth experience
in shipyards, naval architecture, and marine engineering.
